The new band made its West Coast Debut last month in Los Angeles and it was a big success. Our first night at The Knitting Factory in Hollywood was made all the more special by surprise guest appearances by erstwhile HFQ trumpeter Erik Jekabson (in town for a taping of a TV show with John Mayer) and old friend Joyce Anderson, fiddle player extraordinaire, who was herself on tour but managed to stop in and see us. The next night, the band played acoustic at Lunaria. Although sparsely attended, Don Heckman of the LOS ANGELES TIMES showed up and gave the band a rave review, just click the link at top.
HFQ Reboot
As anyone who's been to see the band in recent month already knows, there've been some changes made. After a few months of musical chairs, the new band lineup is now complete: new faces include Kevin Louis on trumpet, Victor Lin on violin, Jim Whitney on bass and (when he's available) Mark McLean on drums. We wish departing members Jon and Russell the best of luck as they move on to new projects.
